The 2024 Greater Bay Area Green Finance Alliance (GBA-GFA) Annual Conference, themed “Craft A Comprehensive Narrative on Green Finance; Compose A New Chapter of Ecological Splendor for The Greater Bay Area 做好绿色金融大文章 绘就湾区绿美新画卷”,  was successfully held on 28 September 2024 in Guangzhou.

The event was co-hosted by the Guangdong Green Finance Committee and Guangzhou Green Finance Association; HKGFA supported the event as one of the GBA-GFA counterparts.

At the Annual Conference, Macau officially handed over the rotating presidency to Guangzhou, marking the start of a new year (2024-2025) for the alliance’s rotating chair cities. Three green finance projects were signed on-site, and seven important achievements along with one initiative were announced (more details here).

Around 400 representatives from government and regulators, financial institutions and industry experts from all over the GBA convened to review the progress achieved in 2023-2024, share best practices, and propose initiatives for the betterment and high-quality development of the GBA.

During the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Green Finance Best Practice Case Award Ceremony, 20 green finance cases from Guangdong, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macao were acknowledged with a range of awards for their excellence and pioneering approaches in green finance. Seven Working Groups of the GBA-GFA also presented their work progress and results achieved in 2023-2024.

Together with the respective Associations and our members, HKGFA will continue to actively work towards harmonizing standards, facilitating transitions, promoting disclosure practices, and building capacity in the Greater Bay Area and beyond.
