Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong (SFC) published the Consultation Paper on the Management and Disclosure of Climate-related Risks by Fund Managers on 29th October 2020, which proposes to amend the Fund Manager Code of Conduct (FMCC) to require fund managers to take climate-related risks into consideration in their investment and risk management processes as well as to make appropriate disclosures to meet investors’ growing demand for climate risk information and to combat greenwashing. The SFC proposes to issue a circular setting out baseline requirements and enhanced standards for larger fund managers. These measures can improve the comparability of information across different fund managers to help investors make more informed decisions.
