Dr. Ma Jun, Chairman and President of Hong Kong Green Finance Association (HKGFA) spoke at Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) Green Asia Summit 2021’s panel on Net-Zero – Turning Climate Goals into Actions on 9th December 2021.
Dr. Ma Jun received a very warm welcome from Carrie Lam, Chief Executive of HKSAR in her keynote speech as she reflected on her journey as CE elect, and conversation with Dr. Ma Jun on the role and potential for Hong Kong as a super connector in green and sustainable finance and the significant progress that has been made.
Dr. Ma Jun addressed how Hong Kong can accelerate its role as a super-connector and gateway for Mainland China’s green assets by adopting the Common Ground Taxonomy, participating in a unified GBA Mandatory Carbon Market, and developing a Voluntary Carbon Market. But, more importantly, the government’s role as a convener to bring together regulators, public and private sector in partnership to achieve a convergence of international standards and disclosures locally to position Hong Kong as a leading green and sustainable financial centre.
HKEX also announced the HKEX Green and Sustainable Finance Book Launch during the Summit. Ms. Grace Hui, Head of Green and Sustainable Finance, HKEX, has addressed Dr. Ma’s contributions and efforts in the book on Practice and Prospect of Green Finance in China – Enhancing the Green Finance System to Achieve Carbon Neutrality.
