HKGFA Organised Events
Introduction
As one of the first designated green finance pilot zones in China, Huzhou offers a compelling case study on how local context drives sustainable economic development and green finance developments. In this event, a short presentation based on a report recently published by CFA Institute will provide an overview of the lessons that can be drawn from Huzhou.
A panel of experts will then discuss the importance of capacity building, education, and international collaboration in the development of green finance taxonomy. The panel will also examine the implementation of digital platforms, which can streamline access to green financing for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), reducing transaction costs and improving efficiency. Furthermore, the panel will explore the use of policy incentives and regulatory measures such as interest subsidies, rewards for green financial innovation to promote transparency, and accountability in green finance practices and spurred the development of innovative financial products.
Drawing on the Huzhou experience and the diverse expertise of the panellists, the event aims to provide actionable lessons for policymakers, financial professionals, and sustainability advocates seeking to implement or enhance green finance initiatives in their own regions.

Around 70 market practitioners, along with additional online participants from local and overseas, gathered to discuss the challenges, opportunities, and best practices for facilitating green transition in the region.
Dr. Ma Jun delivered a keynote on his journey and insights on the Huzhou Pilot Zone in addition to the elements vital to fostering successful transition developments, including:

The following panel discussion then addressed the regional disparities and knowledge gaps in the field whilst affirming Hong Kong’s immense potential in driving global transition finance developments. During the panel discussion, Ms. Tracy Wong Harris shared the following:
- A comprehensive overview of the transition finance market landscape in the region
- The gaps and emerging opportunities available for innovative financing products, solutions, and structures
- How to effectively mitigate the risks of greenwashing
