Session highlights

  1. To enhance Hong Kong’s role as a super-connector and super value-adder, Dr. Ma Jun, M.H. (HKGFA) highlighted the sustainable finance talent gap in Hong Kong that can be addressed by capacity building. Similarly, Ms. Winnie Fan (Bank of China (Hong Kong); HKAB) advocated for ecosystem upskilling, where businesses invest in their talents today to enable tomorrow’s transition journey.
  2. As AI reshapes careers and the world engages in energy transition, Mr. Tim Smith (Korn Ferry) emphasised the growing demand for sustainability skills and the importance of targeted upskilling. To keep up with the system-wide transformation, businesses must align talent and structural capability.
  3. To support Hong Kong’s sustainable finance talent, Ms. Jenny Lee (HKGFA) and Mr. Cheng Lin (CASI) presented the self-paced, online HKGFA-CASI certificate programme that is eligible for subsidy under the Pilot GSF CBSS.
  4. Moderated by Mr. Tim Smith, Ir Prof. Tim Wong (AECOM; City University of Hong Kong), Mr. Mohit Grover (Deloitte), and Ms. Kitty Cheung (Hang Seng Bank) discussed the future of work in sustainability, opportunities across finance, engineering, and consulting, and how sustainability is embedded into all business strategy, and is no longer a nice to have, but a “must have” skill set.
  5. Despite shifting policy signals, sustainability is steadily integrated into mainstream business practices to reach decarbonisation targets. New concepts like transition finance and climate adaptation also emerge to present opportunities and challenges to the workforce. To stay with the rapid developments, professionals are urged to attain the necessary skills and network.
