HKGFA Representative Spoke at HKU Business School: Future of Hong Kong Economy Conference

On 18 January, HKGFA Vice President and Honorary Advisor, Mr Ben McQuhae, joined an esteemed line-up of speakers at the conference on The Future of Hong Kong Economy 2024 organised by HKU Business School and spoke at the panel session entitled “Taking the Leap: Hong Kong to spearhead ESG Development of the Region and Beyond”.

Moderated by Prof. Guojun He (HKU Business School), the panel was also joined by Ms. Anna Ng (Regional Head for East Asia and Pacific, IFC) and Ms. Ellie Tang (Director Sustainable Investing, Fidelity International), where they covered a wide range of topics including Hong Kong as a green finance centre, ESG investments, ESG ratings, biodiversity and education.

In relation to Hong Kong’s position as a leader in green finance, Ben considered how leadership meant more than financial performance but also the standards we set for ourselves, disclosures, transparency and integrity of financial products. While Hong Kong is consistently improving in all those areas, we need to continue to “aspire to the highest standards”.
