
On 25th November 2020, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Mrs. Carrie Lam delivered the policy address, where she announced that the HKSAR will strive to achieve carbon neutrality before 2050, while green finance would be one of the focus. To this end, the Government will update the “Hong Kong’s Climate Action Plan” in the middle of next year to set out more proactive strategies and measures to reduce carbon emissions.
Chief Executive Mrs. Carrie Lam, “We will develop green finance to boost investments conducive to reducing carbon emissions, build a low-carbon economy which is more resilient to climate change, and enhance public education and publicity. I cordially invite all sectors to work together to promote low-carbon transformation in Hong Kong in a bid to strive towards the goal of carbon neutrality by 2050.”
