HKGFA wish you a joyful Christmas season and a fruitful New Year!

As it comes to the end of 2020, HKGFA would like to thank your continuous support and contributions to the Association. With this opportunity, we would like to share with you our key achievements in 2020.

Celebrating our Second Anniversary, HKGFA has made remarkable progress in facilitating the development of green finance and sustainable investments in Hong Kong and beyond. Our membership has grown to over 140 institutions with extension to various sectors including banks, asset managers, insurance companies, law firms.

HKGFA is proud to have supported the government and regulators through capacity building and consultations. We have been working closely with SFC on various consultation, coordinated with HKMA to support the White Paper on Green and Sustainable Banking, and a key partner to the newly launched STAGE from HKEX.

In addition, HKGFA strives to gather the talent and expertise of financial institutions and green businesses in Hong Kong to motivate the development of green finance in Hong Kong and beyond through our capacity building events throughout the year. One of the big highlights is the Launch of the Greater Bay Area Green Finance Alliance (GBA-GFA) in September. The GBA-GFA hosts research and incubates green investment projects that benefit the Greater Bay Area, leveraging the vast green investment demand in Guangdong and green finance capacities in Hong Kong and Macau. Three key projects on Blockchain Solar, Carbon Connect, and Green Building are undergoing under HKGFA. In November, the 2020 HKGFA Annual Forum was a big success with over 700 audiences joining online.

Four reports were published this year under HKGFA, namely “Decarbonising Hong Kong Buildings Policy Recommendations And Next Steps”, “GBRS Energy Benchmarking Study”, “Hong Kong Green And Sustainable Finance Survey”, and “Navigating Climate Transition Finance”.

Going forward, HKGFA will further expand the Working Groups in 2021 (see below) to support various growing markets in the green and sustainable realm. We will announce the respective Working Group Co-chairs in mid-January 2021.
